Baker Engineering, holds the
ISO 14001 environmental
certification, which sets out
thecriteria for aneffective
environmentalmanagement
system thatmonitors and
controls environmental issues
in aholisticmanner.
Due to thenatureof our business,
someof our dailyprocesses,
require theuseof hazardous
materials such as paint, chemicals
andflammablematerial.We also
generate scrapmaterial in the
formof scrap steel andwooden
pallets.Wehave risk assessments
andprocedures inplace for
the identification, handling and
disposal of bothhazardous
andnon-hazardousmaterial.
Authorised thirdpartydisposal
companies are appointed to
removehazardousmaterialswhich
are stored in specially appointed
containers. Scrapmaterial which
canbe reused are also set aside
for futureuse.
Althoughwehavenot identified
paper, electricity andwater
consumption asmaterial topics
this year, theGroupensures that
environmental considerations
areembedded inour business
decisions andprocesses.
Consumptionof paper, plastic,
Styrofoamor any formof
disposableutensils are kept to
aminimum, withemphasis given to
paperless internal communication
anduseof non-disposable
utensils. Air conditioningunits are
regularly serviced and typically
set to anoptimum temperature,
programmed to switchoff
automatically afterworkinghours.
Theuseof LED lightings and
energy saving appliances in the
offices has alsohelped improve
our energy efficiency. Rainwater
is harvested and reused towater
indoor andoutdoor pottedplants.

throughnoticeboardposters and
internalmemos.
We aremindful of our impact
to theenvironment and
practise adherenceof relevant
environmental regulations.
